The beginning of September makes my 'upcoming' craft fair, November 17 & 18, seem soooo much closer! I still feel like I'm experimenting and figuring out what I want to do, better get some stuff done!!
So with September comes a goal of making a Dangle a Day, and so far, so good. After I finish my daily Dangle, I can move on to experiments, and figure out what else I'll be selling. Making at least one a day has also helped me get my Dangle Makin' Supplies more organized. Still figuring out how to display them, I like this little 'tree' kind of thing, maybe set it on the table? I always try to use my days off from real work to work for myself, and Labor Day gave me a long weekend in which the first Buggle was born! When I've been experimenting with making molds for polymer clay (and sometimes hot glue) I was thinking what could I make with a mold that I could sell at the craft fair? I'm inspired by a friend making adorable felt fairies and gnomes, and thought, what would a tiny fairy or gnome, or hobbit, or borrower, or mermaid, or dwarf, or any other tiny creature need? I thought, maybe a pet or animal friend of some sort, and I decided it's part bug since it's small, and it's kinda nondescript, not a specific animal, so a Buggle. This is Buggle Alpha, the first one. I imagine other funny animals will follow. I've only made a few in polymer clay so far, I'm learning how to use my mold, and experimenting with what looks best. I've also been on an organizing quest lately, and I have found things partly finished that I can get ready for the craft fair as well. This week I finished beading the little what-not box at the top. I don't know how long ago I started it, it took several layers of paint to get the spots just right, and I remember how surprisingly hard it was to put the holes in the top. The beading was half finished when I found it and dusted it off, I wonder what 'squirrel' got me off this when it was almost done. LOL. It will get some ultra suede inside the lid to cover the strings, and a good coat of paint on the inside. Now how do I price it??? Also in the organizing category, I'm trying to keep this updated better. I created a Pinterest Board to show things I've made (why didn't I think of that before?), and lots are linked to my old blog, See Shell's Schemes. The first 'crafty' blog, I called Schemes, and this blog, supposedly the next step, I call Show & Tell. But I need to remember to show and tell more often.
